Get Up & Go has gone to new owner
After 11 years with Mahlab Media, Get Up & Go, Australia’s premier travel magazine for the mature traveller has been bought by award-winning BT Publishing.
Sydney-based BT Publishing is a specialist in the multimedia field.
Group Publisher/Managing Director, Helen Batt-Rawden (pictured) said there was a great opportunity to take Get Up and Go to new heights.
“BT Publishing was the first in the meetings & events industry in Australia to develop a multimedia offering with our flagship micenet AUSTRALIA Magazine, combining the strength of a traditional magazine with the power and immediacy of online publishing.
“We plan to develop Get Up & Go’s existing and widely-read travel blog (http://getupandgomagazine.blogspot.com) in tandem with the magazine to give our growing market more opportunities to interact with us.
Ms Batt-Rawden said the increasingly adventurous mature traveller market still relied heavily on word-of-mouth to make their travel decisions.
“We have Get Up & Go’s editor and Australian Society of Travel Writers’ ‘Best Travel Editor of the Year’ 2010, Bev Malzard coming across too, so we’ll maintain Bev’s crucial and close relationship with our readers.
“She’s a very hands-on editor and blogger, so for readers it’s really like getting travel tips from a friend.”
Get Up & Go magazine is a glossy, quarterly travel magazine featuring stories (international and domestic features, cruise news, and travel news) from Australia’s top travel writers and is supported by premium advertisers. Bev Malzard will take up her position with BT Publishing within the next week.
“I’m thrilled with the magazine going to a lovely home,” she says. “I have built up Get Up & Go over more than four marvellous years working with Mahlab Media, and now it’s time to move along and take the magazine to a new dimension.”
